Many Hands Foundation Wins MyQuire Grant For Its Success in Building Volunteer Efforts in South Africa

Non-profit uses MyQuire to coordinate volunteer work projects in remote village of Silindile.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — Sept. 20, 2007 – MyQuire (www.myquire.com) today announced the Many Hands Foundation as the winner of MyQuire’s inaugural non-profit grant. The $500 grant will provide Many Hands Foundation with funds for their community efforts in South Africa in 2008.

MyQuire is an online tool for doing projects. It lets members do work, meet in real time, and connect their projects with their personal and professional networks. Many Hands Foundation Executive Director Bill McKinney began using MyQuire in his organization after being introduced to the company at the Craigslist Foundation Boot Camp hosted in Berkeley last month.

“Being introduced to MyQuire at Boot Camp was perfect timing,” said McKinney. “In the past, Many Hands administrators ran projects with email – a frustrating and inefficient tool for coordinating teams on trips. The need for input from volunteers going on the work trips further complicated the already cumbersome process. We were really excited to find a technology that seemed to be designed for groups like ours. With MyQuire we can work together more efficiently now and spend less time chasing things down.”

McKinney added, “We’re very excited by MyQuire’s capabilities for coordinating our administrative efforts and letting our locations across the U.S. and South Africa work together in real time. So it’s great for us in terms of its capabilities but the real key to our adopting it was how easy it is to use and how quickly our staff and volunteers could get up to speed using it.”

MyQuire’s online software is ideally suited for non-profit organizations. “MyQuire is working to solve an old problem in a new way,” notes David Steinberg, MyQuire founder and CEO. “Non-profits have felt the pain of doing projects without great tools just like the rest of us have. We’re proud to offer our technology to organizations that will use it to change the world. When we met all the amazing organizations who came to Boot Camp, we decided to make a grant that would reward one non-profit aligned with MyQuire in its efforts to solve a big problem in an innovative way. The Many Hands Foundation is an inspiring example of this concept.”

Steinberg further indicated that MyQuire plans to launch additional non-profit grant programs in the near future.

Bringing MyQuire and the Many Hands Foundation together represents a clear win for the Craigslist Foundation, hosts and creators of Boot Camp for the past four years. “Craigslist Foundation is dedicated to providing resources to the next generation of non-profit leaders. Giving companies like MyQuire a forum for reaching organizations like Many Hands is an important and strategic component for achieving this objective,” said Darian Rodriguez Heyman, Executive Director for the Craigslist Foundation.

About Many Hands Foundation
Many Hands was founded by Mack and Mary Alice McKinney, who have been leading volunteer work teams to places around the world since 1969. Since 1992 the focus has been on rural villages in the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa. In 2006 Many Hands began work focusing on the community of Silindile.
